Apollonia Castitlione from Queens grew a 6-foot long zucchini in her backyard, two feet short of the world record but 1 foot taller than herself.She had lots to say to the media in her 5 minutes of fame:
"I went to look at it one day and was like, 'It's a little long,' then a few days later, I said, 'Oh, my God, what's this?'
"I've had my vegetable garden for 26 years, but I never saw anything so spectacular."

I didn't know you had a blog but I just subscribed to it. We have our own ridiculous zucchini, courtesy of Lisa's parents. It is not 6 feet tall but it has to weight at least six pounds. What it lacks in length it makes up for in girth.
Zucchini is in the running for my favorite vegetable.
